I have been soooo busy lately it’s crazy. Between work, sports, campaigning and trying to find time to sleep, shower, run and eat, I have been really neglecting my blogging duties. Lots of fun stuff this week though, so while I have a minute, here is a quick recap.
College football has been pretty exciting. The Alabama-Georgia game this Saturday is going to be huge. Georgia Bulldogs are planning a black-out, with the players and fans all wearing black. NHL pre-season also opens this week, meaning hockey season is about to blossom and NHL rumors are running rampant as to the last-minute trades and signings. In NFL news, lots of upsets in Week 3, Miami beating the Pats?!? Yeah, big WTF there. Matt Millen is finally out of Detroit, Brian Westbrook is hurt and Plaxico Burress was suspended, but plans to appeal.
In other news, Halloween is coming up, thats always fun. Baked pumpkin seeds, caramel apples and beyond entertaining costumes. It also means that Starbucks will have my favorite seasonal treat, pumpkin spice, bug yum!
Crap, literally as in my puppy had an accident on the floor. Ugh, back to the grind.

A beautiful thing happened today. I spent my afternoon with a cold beer (ok more like 6) watching football with the guys. Yes, live, exciting, real football, college football to be exact. After i was forced to watch a boring unentertaining game between the damn Buckeyes and Youngstown, I was throughly entertained watching my boys in blue, the Michigan Wolverines. Yes, they lost, but it was a good game. What appeared to be a certain win for Utah, came down to the fourth quarter when our new coach, Rich Rodriguez, led our team to a 13 point unanswered comeback. If we had completed that last two point conversion it would have been tied. I don’t see Michigan being a strong contender this year unfortunately though. The loss of everyone from Chad Henne to Mario Manningham hurts, and quite honestly hometown boy Nick Sheridan has a lot of room for improvement. Brandon Minor is still in the Big House, and wide receiver Greg Matthews looks promising, but between the weak QB and adjusting to Rodriguez’s split offense, I am not going to be shocked if we stay low in rankings throughout the season. Don’t get me wrong, I support my teams win or lose, but I have to be reasonable at the same time.

This is one of the best articles I have read in a long time. Carson Palmer, Cincinnati Bengals quarterback, discussed his hatred respect for the Ohio State Buckeyes and their football program. The quote of the day:
I cannot stand the Buckeyes. It’s amazing to hear what those guys think about that university and what they think about that football program and Tressel and all the crap I gotta put up with being back there.
I just can’t wait for two years from now when SC comes to the ‘Shoe and hopefully we’ll have a home game that weekend, and I can go up there and watch us pound on them in their own turf.
I’m really getting sick of it, and I just can’t wait for this game to get here so they can come out to the Coliseum and experience LA and get an old-fashioned Pac-10 butt-whoopin’ and go back to the Big Ten.
Yes Palmer attended USC, but now plays in Cincy, close enough to Ohio State to smell the wretched Buckeyes. Ok he did later soft-retract the statement, saying that like a good fan, he might have got a little too fired up. Translation: “Yeah, I meant what I said, but the team/league/school wants me to pretend that I don’t.”
I can completely relate to Palmer. I am Detroit born and raised. I went to school at the prestigious and beautiful University of Michigan. Now I live in Ohio, surrounded by pungent Buckeye fans. (Yeah Michigan and Ohio State fans do not play well together, especially when drinking, trust me.) So much to the disapproval of my neighbors, I fly my maize and blue whenever possible. My giant M flag hangs from my roof year round and I even have a couple of customized pieces, say for instance my “Fuck Them Bucks!” T-shirt. After all, who is afraid of a set of hairless nuts anyways???
