I was excited to watch the Wings sweep the Avs last night, bit I had no clue they would win 8-2. Eight goals is a lot for one team in a single game. The horrible wonderful announcers on VERSUS claim it was a miss-matched game, since Colorado was missing key players. I have to disagree, the Wings were without Chris Chelios, but that doesn’t mean our D was so sloppy that they allowed twenty goals. Missing five key players does not make Jose Theodore or Peter Budaj allow three and five goals respectively. It comes down to who wanted it more, and clearly that team prevailed.

But is beating the Avs 8-2 necessarily a good thing? I don’t think so. The way the Wings are playing now is awesome, but it can also make them over confident, I have seen it before, too many times. Since they finished the series so early they now get a bunch of time off, like a week. Thats a long time for a hockey player. Hopefully they will use the time to humbly reflect on the previous series and give them some time to shrink their heads.

On a side note Johan Franzen is a stud, two hat tricks and nine total goals in a four game series, anyone say playoff MVP? I am also rooting for Mike Babcock for the Jack Adams award. He motivates they guys in a way I am sure is making Scotty proud. Will the Cup come back to Hockeytown this year? It sure looks that way right now, then again maybe I am just over confident.

One should always play fairly when one has the winning cards.
